Duplex arterial scanning is usually performed with the initial venous scan. It adds approximately 10 minutes to the testing time, and is performed for two reasons:
- To rule out arterial causes of leg pain and cramping (narrowing of the arteries).
- To ensure that there is a sufficient oxygen supply to the leg prior to performing any procedures which might otherwise not heal well.
We believe in safety prior to everything else, and always make sure to minimize the potential complications of any further treatment, regardless of how small the risk.
At our centers, because of the large amount of patients treated, as well as our strict protocols to produce the most perfect results possible, even small risks are unacceptable.
